I haven't had time to participate in Freshly Made Sketches lately, even though the sketches are terrific. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew it would be perfect for my Sneak Peek of the Stampin' Up! Valentine Cards with box

I didn't have enough time to think about designing a gift I needed to send to another demonstrator, so I purchased a tutorial from Chat Wszelaki at Me, My Stamps and I.
It was a lot of fun to make this, but I didn't have enough Pool Party paper.  I had quite a time working out a different color scheme that used at least a little bit of the new Pleated Satin Ribbon and a few other Occasions Mini items.

Here are close ups of the cards and box.

The color scheme for this project is Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Baja Breeze.

The Designer Paper heart was die cut with a heart from the Framelits Hearts Collection

The little hearts are cut with the Small Hearts Punch.

The embossed hearts were done with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.

I used Twitterpated Designer Buttons from the current Occasions Mini Catalog.

The gorgeous Pleated Satin Ribbon (Baja Breeze) is also from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

I used Melon Mambo Dotted Scalloped ribbon on this card.

The big heart was die cut with Framelits Hearts Collection, the Baja Breeze heart was punched with the Full Heart.  I did not have the right size heart to go behind the stamped heart, bit it really needed a dark border to set it off.  After much experimentation, I decided to use a strip I punched with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.  I cut that strip as narrow as I could, then snipped every 1/16" or so, and wrapped it behind the edge of the heart.

The polka dot paper is from the In Color Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.

I guess you know how the embossed hearts were done by now!

The flower on this card is made with Small Heart punches that were folded in half and then 2 hearts placed folded edge to folded edge.

That is another design from the Twitterpated Designer Buttons.

The pretty embossed edge was made with an Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The embossing on this card was done with another design in the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder set.

That is the Small Heart Punch again.

Finally this is the box.

I used 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon in Blushing Bride which seems to blend in OK.

The hearts were punched with the Full Heart punch.

I made this to send to my niece.  I used Pool Party, Blushing Bride and Real Red, the colors that were used in the Tutorial.

I used the Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon for this card.

I was sending her a little Valentine gift, so I made a decorated pocket with a Framelits Hearts die.  I found a leftover stamped heart in my leftover pile so layered that on the red heart.

I glued it to the top inside of the card so she will have a little surprise when she opens her card!

Well this took much longer than I thought it would!!  I don't know how those bloggers post all the things that they do.  I am pretty sure they don't own their own full time business!

Happy Valentines Day!
Phyllis

Stampin' Up Valentine cards

I received these cards by swapping with other demonstrators.  Most of them are from an organized swap with other members of SUDSOL (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing On Line), a group Stampin' Up! demonstrators.
I also get together once a month with some other local demonstrators to swap cards, do a make and take and talk about all the latest news at Stampin' Up!  We have a great time.  Only 2 of us made it this month so I have only one card to share.

Take It To Heart by Kathy Braine

She used the Take It To Heart stamp set to stamp the heart image and then die cut it with a Framelit Hearts Collection die.  The doily behind it was die cut with the Sizzlet Doily Die, and then the outer edge was trimmed to create a different shape.

Candy Conversations by Heather Sewezak
This card uses the Candy Conversations stamp set from the 2012 Occasions Mini. She used the Small Heart punch for the little hearts and the Framelit Hearts Collection die for the big heart.  The embossed hearts piece was done with the new Adorning Accents Embossing Folder

Outlined Occasions by Mary Booker

This card was stamped with the Outlined Occasions set, which you can earn for free with a $50 purchased until March 31, 2012.

The used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to make the white background layer.

They tiny hearts were punched from the Red Glimmer Paper.

P. S. I Love You by Kay Hahn Casler

Kay cut out hearts with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit die and sprinkled them across the card.  The label was punched with the Modern Label Punch.
P.S. I Love You by Sharon Roeder

This card was stamped with the heart from P. S. I Love You.  The popped up heart was punched with the Full Heart Punch.

I hope you enjoyed this little display of Valentine cards.

Happy VD to you!

Christmas Cards - Make Your Own Designer Paper with Stamps!

OK, more Christmas!  In this post I want to show you that you can make your own beautiful background paper with card stock, stamps and ink.

The first card showcases the Distressed Dots background which is stamped on Marina Mist cardstock with White Craft Ink.   I also inked the edges to give the paper more dimension and so it would stand out from the other layers.  I used  this stamped cardstock for the background layer of the card as well as the tag, which I die cut with the Two Tags die.  These are layered on a card base of Brushed Silver cardstock.
The snowflake was die cut from Silver Glimmer Paper with the Sizzix Snowflake die. I punched a snowflake from the Glimmer Paper, because the die cut snowflake looked too open. The center is several Brushed Silver cardstock flowers punched with the Boho Blossoms punch.  They are held together with a Marina Mist Glimmer Brad.
I should buy stock in Stampin' Dimensionals which are double-sided adhesive foam dots!  As you can see I used them between every layer in the card as well as between the layers of the snowflake.   Supply list is at the bottom of the post.
The beautiful Vanilla Velvet ribbon is retired.  (Shh!! don't tell anyone but I have a small stash of it!

Here is another stamped background.  The stamps I used for the background are from the Season of Joy stamp set (still available!).  I stamped with Craft Whisper White and Craft Real Red inks to stamp a semi-random pattern.  Be sure to let the first color of ink dry before you start stamping with the next color.
That is Stampin' Up!'s beautiful Real Red satin ribbon and the fancy edge was done with the Pinking Hearts border punch. The Stitched Felt Snowflake and the red button are retired :-(

Monday, February 6, 2012

Hello again, here are a few more Christmas cards I made.  I want to get these posted so I can get on to Valentines... almost too late!

Today I want to show you the lovely centerpiece embellishment you can make with punches.  I used Fancy Flower Punch for the bottom layer and then embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I cut several 5-Petal Flowers from the Red Glimmer Paper and stacked them on top.  The center is the two smallest flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch, cut from Wild Wasabi card stock.  I stacked all the punches together and cut a hole in the center with a handheld circle punch.  I held them together with a Gold Glimmer Brad.

I used the gorgeous Holly Berry Bouquet paper, which I embossed with the Starburst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, for the background.
The Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding is ruffled onto a strip of Sticky Tape.
Supplies:
118073  Fancy Flower Punch
120175  Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
119880  5-Petal Flowers
121790  Red Glimmer Paper
119858  Boho Blossoms punch
121003  Glimmer Brads - Basics
120992  Seam Binding - Cherry Cobbler
Cardstock - 119685 Cherry Cobbler, 108641Wild Wasabi

Stamp, stamp, stamp!
